WE SAT DOWN WITH MICHAEL LOMBROZO, DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS AT VRP IN DEZERLAND PARK. Read on to find out the specificities of Michael’s location, how his business is performing after installing Boxblaster VR, and what improvements he’s seen in his traffic numbers.

Could you give us a little background on your business location and its characteristics?

Yes, of course, we’re located in North Miami, near Universal Orlando, on the premises of Dezerland Park. It’s an impressive 250’000 sq. ft. venue that provides family fun attractions of all kinds. Dezerland Park also hosts birthday parties, team buildings or corporate events, and generally any social gathering where entertainment is needed. There is karting, trampoline jumping, ninja courses, pinball, bowling, and a virtual reality park that covers 14’000 sq.ft. In the dedicated VR zone, you can find experiences for all ages - a VR cinema, free-roam VR, 4-player attractions, and motion simulators.

What prompted you to install Boxblaster VR?

To be honest, we didn’t expect much when we decided to install Boxblaster VR. As you know, we were the first ones, so we didn’t have other locations to compare it to and see past performance. But, we liked the company business model and the direction of family fun - so we decided to take a chance - and I’ve got to say it paid off!

So, how’s it performing for you thus far?

The risk we took was worth it. Boxblaster VR gave us a user-friendly, easy to understand game which families seem to like a lot. We have a diverse group of target customers, and I often see kids and teenagers come to the park, all excited to try VR. But after Boxblaster’s installation, I noticed more families coming to play. They especially love to play together in Gold and Mace or fight robots in Arcania. So we’ve seen an increase in family traffic and in recent months Boxblaster VR became our 2nd most popular attraction, so we are very happy about adding it to our offering.

Do you have any data on how many players are repeat players?

We see that people who come and try a game, often stay for another at Boxblaster VR. My estimate is, around 40% stay for another game on Boxblaster even though there are other VR attractions available. Arcania, in particular, is very replayable because it adjusts game difficulty based on how the player or team is performing. So, as players get better - the game gets harder, and I’ve seen customers exclaim more than once: “We’ve got to go again, I think I’ve figured out how to take down the whale robot.”

What do you charge per Boxblaster VR game? And what effect have you seen on your revenue since installing Boxblaster VR?

We have a range of prices depending on what kind of ticket we sell, if it’s a combo with other attractions and whether or not it’s a large group of people buying. Typically, we charge between $5-$8. $5-$6 when it’s a party, but our regular price is usually $8.

I’d say our revenue increased by about 20% because of Boxblaster VR. It helps us sell VR games overall because of its arena design and game appeal. It entices people to try VR because of how fun it looks and how thrilled players seem to be when immersed in their gameplay.

Is there anything else you love about Boxblaster VR?

We are very grateful for the fast tech support. Momentarily we get a response when reaching out. Mainly everything works fine, but tech questions related to restarting, updates, and other basics get answered in less than 3 minutes, and that’s extremely helpful.

We definitely recommend Boxblaster VR attraction to anyone looking to add a family fun, immersive experience to their venue. It’s especially perfect for locations that get a lot of family traffic and want to deliver unforgettable emotions.
